Court Charges Canadian Smuggling More Than 167 Kilograms of Drugs into Cambodia

Phnom Penh: A Canadian man named Fu Yong Qing who smuggled more than 167 kilograms of drugs into Cambodia with a firearm was charged with two offenses: illegal possession and transportation of drugs and possession of drugs and use weapons. He was sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Tuesday morning and arrested by the Anti-Drug Department the day prior.

The police arrested the suspect and confiscated various batches of illegal narcotics, including up to 86 thousand pink ecstasy pills weighing more than 28 kg, as well 150 thousand grey ecstasy pills weighing more than 60 kg and 50 kg of Reed Ecstasy powder. The haul also included Nimetazepam, Methamphetamine and Ketamine narcotics weighing in total an additional 27 kilos.

The crackdown was carried out on the orders of National Police Commissioner General Brigadier Neth Savoeun, and Deputy Commissioner General of the Anti-Drug Crime Plan, Gen. Mak Chito, under the direct command of the Director of the Department of Anti-Drug Crimes, Lt. Gen. Lek Vannak.
